…Consider the lilies of the field,…Matthew 6:28

Is there any practical truth in this passage? I believe so.

It is time to slow down. We get so enticed in gaining success above everything that we forget a very simple truth: Life is about how we make the journey. Our focus is on how fast we can achieve things, positions, leadership, influence. Our attention and concerns are centered in the temporary situations that we live. We make every effort to “get there first fast”, to become the “next big thing” sometimes ignoring the cost, and neglecting everyone in our path, usually and painfully sat the expense of those who we love the most. Life becomes the survival of the fittest.

Is there any truth in this message? I believe Jesus was trying to tell us more than what we see sometimes. He was not only teaching us of how dependent upon Him we should be, but also took the time to admire the fields, the birds, all that was around. He understood that the simple things in life, are often the most important ones.

If the Maker of it all had time to rest and admire the creation, what about you? After every day when he created all things, He saw it was all good. (Genesis 1).

It’s time to slow down. It’s time to admire the lilies in our field. By doing this we will notice that our perspective in life will be clearer; that the promises He has for us in His Word, are true. We will discover God’s plan for our lives. It is time to take a walk with your spouse. It is time to listen to your son, to have a conver sation with your daughter, to give a hand to your father, or sit down and give your time to your mother. It is time to forgive and forget. It is time to love and not reproach. It is time to talk with your Master. It is time to really be yourself, without reservations and enjoy all that God has given you. Tomorrow, is in His hands. He has promised to take care of your future. And if He is in control, what should you fear?

Life is all about the journey. So, take some time today to consider the lilies of the field.

“BREATHE expectantly, LIVE confidently and MOVE Boldly”
