Untroubled

by DP

But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.” Proverbs 1:33

Today we hear we see and we are constantly surrounded by the fear of harm, unrest, financial uncertainty and emotional instability. Troubling times.

But here, God speaks directly and tells us, if you listen to me, to what I have said, you will live in peace. A peace that will not ignore the current events, but in spite of them, it will cover you and you will be untroubled.

Are you concerned by the fear of what your current situation represents? Does the possibility or the thought of harm unrest’s your soul? Is anxiety knocking at your door filling your heart and your mind? Take heart today, His word is true and palpable. He has promised that if you listen to Him, your heart will remain untroubled, unmoved and unshaken. The writer is declaring a seemingly contradictory statement. A bold statement.

How can I have peace in the middle of trouble? How could this even be possible? When God’s wisdom and his word permeates your heart, your soul and your most inner being, all what apparently could disturb and shake you, passes by and does not move you. It’s not saying that you will never experience trying times. What it says is that no matter if you are in the middle of the situation, peace will cover you and your life will be strengthen, affirmed and sustained. You will experience a peace that will amaze even those that surround you.

The secret relies in who you listen to, to whom you run to. In the middle of your life, run to the one that has promised to be our fortress, our hiding place in times of trouble and will surround you with sounds and cheers of victory. The same one that gives his people strength and is their fortress, and you will live untroubled because every word of God proves to be true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

So don’t be dismayed, lift your head and stand firm. No matter what comes your way and no matter where you are today, If you listen to Him, you will live in peace and you will be, untroubled.

Don’t take your promise to a dry place

by DP

Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Harran, they settled there. Genesis 11:31 NIV

The story reveals a significant fact of the family of Abram. It was not foreign to him to be moving from place to place. Here we see that after the death of one of his sons, Terah, decided to move to a better place, Canaan. But along the way there he stopped at Harran and settled and died there. He never saw Canaan. History says that Haran was a place of trade, a midpoint to Canaan, and had an apparent prosperous life but it’s name means very dry, grievous and wasted years.

It is also important to say that Terah means delay, wandering. So while he was headed to Canaan he wandered and settled in Harran. Delay is the companion of wandering. Delay is the companion of wasted years. Delay always wanders to dry places.

You might also be in a similar situation. You headed out to the right place but wandered and settled in another. You headed to become a professional but settled for a smaller calling. You were headed to another city but stayed at the place of comfort. You were headed to a wonderful life in marriage, but settled for less. All to be seen years after, as wasted and wandered years. An apparent prosperous place, but in reality a dry and grievous one.

Don’t let delay dictate your steps. Don’t let apparent comfort, stir you away from your calling. Delay will carry your promise to a place of dryness and years of toil. Delay will blur your vision of the great destiny your life has. The story repeats itself, every one that settled at Harran, toiled and suffered years of delay, wandering in an apparent place of prosperity but in reality they were in a very dry place. Terah took the promise to a dry place. Abram and Sarai were the promise for the world and it could not flourish in a dry place.

Walk to your calling, don’t stop in Harran. Don’t settle in comfort, idleness and in unproductive places. Your promise is big and Canaan is waiting for you. If the vision for your life is clear why wander in places that will delay the promise of God for you? Your promise will come forth, and your life and world will be better for it.

Don’t take your promise to a dry place.

While we wait

by DP

Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled. Romans 15:4 NLT

A friend of mine who had recently relocated to another country, had been seeking for a job in order to also relocate his family. Being alone for some time and going from job interview to job interview without nothing to show for had started to make his uneasiness grow. Not that he had been idle in fact he was getting up early every day and doing his part. He had made a plan and put it to action, counted his resources, and made provision. For him, a bold move like no other one he had done before. You see, his move was not prompted by his desire, but he was certain that his move was directed by The Master. He had a promise, and God always fulfills his promises.

So why he had not seen any results? No offers, no glimmer of hope. While he was being faithful and waited, his available resources were being depleted. He had calculated the time it would take to the end of them, and that time was near. Furthermore, his wife had told him that she was also “all in”, and went on to quit her job and told him so. God had given them a promise and she believed it.

One of those “waiting days”, we got the chance to chat early in the morning and this issue came up. We exchanged some comments and then he said, “I’m waiting, waiting”. Some frustration about the process was surfacing in his comments. I reminded him about this scripture, “…as we wait patiently…”.

Paul was making an exhortation to the Romans as to how to live and care for those that were among them. In the previous chapter he had been telling them how to conduct themselves and why. Apparently there were some among them that had been having some trouble and probably their patience was running slim when it came to considering their brothers and encouraging them. Then this verse comes in the middle of all his instructions and summarizes his teaching and seals the truth about God’s character. He cannot be fooled, die or lie.

Everything that is written in the scriptures is there to give us hope and encouragement while we wait. While we wait for the promises of God to be fulfilled in our life and on the lives of those around us. Paul with this verse is stating that the promises of God are not to be doubted or questioned, but to be expected. We live on promises not explanations. Just as the romans had troubles, tribulations and issues, we have our share of situations, but no situation will ever be as tangible as promise made by God.

So what happened to my friend? Just a couple of days later he received not one, but several job offers at the same time, and his problem was to decide which one to take. As I write, his family is traveling to meet him, their promise came to pass and their new journey begins.

Don’t despair, don’t get anxious, his promises are true and while we wait we should delve into his word to be filled with hope, encouragement and instruction. They were written to prepare you for your next assignment, and the process will help you grow into the man and women that God intended you to be. And all this will happen, while we wait.

Will He know you?

by Daniel E. Maldonado

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; … Mathew 7:22-23

How would you feel if, after working your whole life in the same company and with the same people, one day you were asked, who are you? Or if your daughter or son called your name and you said, I’m sorry, I don’t know who you are? Is it possible? Furthermore, can someone live an entire life promoting, advancing, and even being an ambassador of the Good News and not be known by Him?

It is a provoking question. It also exposes what is implied in this verse;

 Do I really know Him?

You see, we can champion a cause and be immersed in numerous

activities, not realizing that a personal relationship with Him is what matters. It is not what great things I can do for Him but what great things He is doing in me. It shakes my understanding of my life and purpose to think not to be known by Him. And I ask myself the question, Will He know me? Do I understand His purpose in my life? Do I genuinely know Him as I claim that I do?

God certainly knows who we are. He knows us from the beginning of time, and He loves us. So much so that He orchestrated this plan of salvation so that we would know Him. (John 3:16) But most of us live like doing is more important than being. We engulf ourselves with the responsibilities of life, and we forget to pause, to get to know Him and be like Him. As the son says, “I am looking for the day when I bow before Him and lay my crown at His feet.” That day, that marvelous day, I long to hear His voice saying, ” …well done, good and faithful servant”… (Mathew 25:21). Seek Him in the morning, and get to know Him. He has a wonderful plan for your life.

So, Will, He know you?

The power of the name!

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 1 Samuel 17:45

What an amazing story, A story that has all of the elements for a action movie! David was in the midst of an epic event that will transcend the times, but he did not know that at the time.David had many things at the time in his hand. He was even given an armor which he set aside because he could not walk with it. He had a sling, rocks, a staff. But it is so interesting that even when he had many instruments handy, and even proven useful after his declaration, his TRUST and his THRUST came not from the instruments but from the NAME. From the power of the name.

Where is your trust? From where comes your thrust? Is it your abilities, your resources or the lack of them? Is your trust on what you see? Is your trust on what you can understand? Is your trust on the things you can control? David had His TRUST in the Name and got his THRUST from the NAME. David called HIM the LORD Almighty.

He is called, The Seed of The Woman who will Crush Satan’s Head, The Passover Lamb, The High Priest, The Bronze Serpent Lifted Up, The True Prophet, The Captain of Our Salvation, The Angel of the Lord, The Kinsman Redeemer, The Seed of David, The Son of David, The One Greater than Salomon, The Great Physician, The Messiah from the tribe of Judah, The Temple of God, The Peg in His Holy Place, Our Advocate, Our Redeemer, The Lord of Glory, The Wisdom of God, The One Shepherd, The Rose Of Sharon and the Lilly Of The Valley, The Suffering Servant, The Righteous Branch, Our Faithful God, The One Who has the Right to Rule, The Fourth Man in the Fire, The God Of The Third Day, The Coming Judge, The Restorer Of The Tabernacle, The Deliverer, The Sign of the Prophet, The Ruler of the World from Bethlehem, Our Stronghold in the Day of Trouble, God My Savior, The King of Israel, The Signet Ring, The Humble King Riding on a Colt, The Sun of Righteousness, The Promised Messiah, The Active Servant, The Son of Man, The Son of God, The Resurrected and Ascended Lord, The Second Adam, The resurrection, The God of All Comfort, The Redeemer from the Curse of the Law, Our All in All, The name Above Every Name, The Head of the Body of the Church, The One Coming like a Thief in the Night, The Protector From The Evil One, The One Mediator Between God and Man, The One who Abolished Death and Brought Life, Our Blessed Hope, The Giver of Every Good Thing, The One Who is Superior, The Only Lawgiver and Judge, The One Who is Able to Save and Destroy, The Shepherd and Guardian of our Souls, The Morning Star, The Life, The Truth, The Only God our Savior, The Faithful Witness, The Firstborn from the dead, The Ruler of the Kings of the Earth, The Alpha and Omega, The First and The Last, The Begining and the End, The Amén, The Lamb who was Slain, The Word of God, The Bright and Morning Star and The King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
