Color the world
My daughter was asked by her sunday school teacher, what would you say you were put here in this earth to do? She answered, “I think that I was put here in the world to color it. I see the world like black and dull and I am supposed to give it color”. She was referring to her passion to paint. A God given gift that makes her out of nothing, to start creating scenes and pictures and many other themes in paper and to give them color. Sometimes she will leave us notes and say “I love you, or don’t give up”. An encouraging spirit and a color-filled heart.
Jesus was saying the same thing. This world is filled with his artistry. It was created by a color-filled God, to color-fill our lives.
Ever wonder why you are here? This simple question in the eyes of a girl has a simple but profound answer. We all have a canvas to color. Our canvas could be our job, our children, our community, our own life. God has given you your life for a purpose.
The question remains, how will you color it? You might not feel this very moment that you are capable or even that you are worthy to do it, but you are. Not because of your own effort but because of what Jesus himself already did. When we understand the message of the cross, we open our lives to him. He cleans and creates a new canvas where He can start to paint and color a new scenery. When he said at the cross, “it is finished”, He was saying, I have made you new, I have given you forgiveness, life, purpose and color. And it doesn’t matter where you’ve been, or what you’ve done, not even your circumstances, when you surrender your life to Him, He will color your world, and the picture will be beautiful.
When we surrender our colorless life to Him, we become light, and the light exposes everything. It will expose the wonderful coloring God has given you, previously hidden by sin, and It will more importantly give you purpose. Just as the expression that my daughter said, we are, you and me, in this world to give it color, God’s color. You become a person with a mission: to show others the God-colors in their lives.
Many feel that their lives are black and dull and think that there is no God-color or artistry in them. So go now and take your brushes, pick the canvas and color the world.

Darle color al mundo
La maestra de escuela bíblica le preguntó a mi hija, “¿Cuál crees es el propósito por el cual Dios te puso aquí en la tierra?” Ella respondió, “Creo que estoy aquí para darle color al mundo. Veo al mundo como negro y opaco y estoy aquí para darle color.” Ella se refería a su pasión por la pintura. Un regalo dado por Dios que la hace crear de la nada escenas y dibujos y muchos otros temas que pone en papel y les da color. Algunas veces nos deja notas tales como, “Te amo,” “no te rindas.” Tiene un espíritu alentador y un corazón lleno de color.
Jesús dijo lo mismo. Este mundo está lleno de su arte. Fue creado por el Dios que todo lo llena de color, para darle color a nuestras vidas.
¿Alguna vez te has preguntado por qué estás aquí? Esta pregunta sencilla en los ojos de una niña tiene una simple pero profunda respuesta. Todos tenemos un lienzo para darle color. Nuestro lienzo podría ser nuestro empleo, nuestros hijos, nuestra comunidad, nuestra propia vida. Dios te ha dado tu vida para un propósito.
Permanece la pregunta, ¿cómo le vas a dar color? Tal vez en este momento no te sientes capaz o aun digno/a de hacerlo, pero sí puedes. No por tus propios esfuerzos, sino por lo que Jesús mismo hizo ya. Cuando entendemos el mensaje de la cruz, abrimos nuestras vidas a Él. Él limpia y crea un nuevo lienzo donde Él pueda comenzar a pintar y darle color a un nuevo escenario. Cuando Él dijo en la cruz, “consumado es,” se refería a que te ha hecho nuevo/a, te he otorgado perdón, vida, propósito y color. Y no importa dónde hayas estado o qué hayas hecho, ni siquiera tus circunstancias, cuando rindes tu vida a Él, Él le dará color a tu mundo, y el panorama será hermoso.
Cuando rendimos nuestra vida sin color a Él, nos convertimos en luz, y la luz expone todo. Expondrá el maravilloso colorido que Dios te ha dado, lo que previamente estaba oculto por el pecado, y más importante aún, te dará propósito. Tal como expresó mi hija, tú y yo estamos en este mundo para darle color, el color de Dios. Te conviertes en una persona con una misión: mostrarle a otros los colores de Dios en sus vidas.
Muchos piensan que sus vidas son oscuras y opacas, y piensan que no hay color o arte de Dios en sus vidas. Así es que, ve, toma tus pinceles, agarra tu lienzo y dale color al mundo.

God will open your eyes
The story unfolds as an uncertain time for a mother and her son. Hagar bore Abraham’s first son Ishmael when Sarah could not, as suggested by Sarah herself to Abraham. Once Isaac was born things changed. Sarah saw Ishmael scoffing Isaac, and she didn’t like at all. Sarah told Abraham to cast them out.
So Hagar went to the desert of Beersheba and wandered, with only bread, a skin of water and her son (v.14). Soon the skin of water was used up and she placed the boy under some shrubs to let him die. From a short distance she stood to watch. She was certain that this was the end, but she could not possibly see when the her son died.
But then, something unexpected happened. The scripture says that God heard the voice of the child and the angel of God spoke to her and asked, “What ails you, Hagar?, Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.” (v17)” The angel of god told to pick up her son because the Lord would make him a great nation. Then an amazing thing changed in her. Her eyes were opened.
Have you ever been in a situation were you have used up all of your “available” resources? Have you thought it is the end? Is your current situation telling you, there is no hope, no way out? Have you felt that your creativity and your sense of direction is gone. Do you feel that you have wandering around and around just waiting for that moment to come. Yes, you might be surrounded by real conflict, you might be lacking creativity, you may be in a financial burden and on top of that you wander around eating up your resources pushing you more and more into a state of mind where you cannot see God’s hand in your life. If you give in, you let our situation define who you are and what your destiny and those that depend on you will be. You only see what is in front of you and that dictates your moves.
God is telling you today, I will open your eyes, so you can see that there is a well of water around you that will satisfy your thirst. It has always been there. I am present, I am here; just cry out to me from where you are, and your vision will return, your creativity will rise and I will make you a great nation, says the Lord to you today. Everyone will be amazed of what will become of you. Right there where you are, in the midst of your situation, even when others have cast you out and have left you to die in the wilderness, God will open your eyes.

Dios abrirá tus ojos
La historia se desarrolla en un momento de incertidumbre para una madre y su hijo. Agar dio a luz a Ismael el primer hijo de Abraham cuando aún Sara no podía, según lo había sugerido Sara misma. Las cosas cambiaron una vez que Isaac nació. Sara vio a Ismael burlándose de Isaac y no le gustó en lo absoluto. Sara le dijo a Abraham que los expulsara.
Así que Agar fue al desierto de Beerseba y vagó, sólo con pan, un odre de agua y su hijo (v.14). Pronto el odre del agua se utilizó por completo y colocó al niño bajo unos arbustos para dejarlo morir. Desde una distancia corta se quedó a mirar. Estaba segura de que este era el final, pero ella no podía ver cuando su hijo muriera.
Pero entonces, sucedió algo inesperado. La Escritura dice que Dios escuchó la voz del niño y el ángel de Dios le habló directamente y le preguntó: “¿Qué tienes, Agar? No temas, porque Dios ha oído la voz del muchacho en donde está.” (V. 17) “El ángel de Dios le dijo que recogiera a su hijo porque el Señor haría de él una gran nación. Entonces algo asombrosa ocurrió en ella. Sus ojos se abrieron.
¿Alguna vez has estado en una situación en la que se han agotado todos los recursos a tu “disposición”? ¿Has pensado que es el fin? ¿Tu situación actual te dice, no hay esperanza, no hay salida? ¿Has sentido que tu creatividad y tu sentido de la orientación se han ido? ¿Te sientes que estás dando vueltas y vueltas a la espera de ese momento venir? Sí, podríamos estar rodeados de conflictos reales, puede ser que falte la creatividad, puedes estar bajo una carga financiera y en encima de ello, estés usando todos los recursos disponibles, empujándote cada vez más a un estado de ánimo en el que no puedes ver la mano de a Dios en tu vida. Pero si te rindes, dejarás que tu situación defina quién eres y el cual será el destino de aquellos que dependen de ti. Sólo ves lo que está delante de ti y eso es lo que determina tus pasos.
Dios te está diciendo hoy, voy a abrir tus ojos, para que puedas ver que hay un pozo de agua a tu alrededor que ha de satisfacer tu sed. Siempre ha estado ahí. Yo estoy presente, estoy aquí, sólo clama a mí desde donde estás, y tu visión volverá, tu creatividad se elevará y te haré una gran nación, te dice el Señor hoy. Todo el mundo se sorprenderá de lo que será de ti. Ahí mismo donde estás, en medio de tu situación, incluso cuando otros te han echado y te han dejado a morir en el desierto, Dios abrirá tus ojos.
¡RESPIRA con expectación, VIVE con confianza y MUÉVETE con valentía!

Another heart
Saul had just been anointed by Samuel, and given specific instructions of what would happen next. Just consider this; The donkeys of Saul’s father were missing, and God took care of that. He was given specific details of who would say what, when and where. He then was directed to another place, to look for three specific men, carrying young goats, and another three men carrying bread that he would to receive. Then he should go to a hill and meet a group of prophets with musical instruments that will at that time be prophesying. At that specific moment the Spirit of the Lord will overtake him and he also would prophesy. And then he would become another man.
You see, Saul went looking for his father’s donkeys, but God came to anoint him as king of Israel. He was to be the first king of Israel, so Samuel gave him these instructions that were truly extraordinary signs. In order to faithfully follow all of these instructions, Saul definitely needed another heart, and God knew that.
It is so wonderful how our lives are changed when we hear His voice, when we listen to his instruction through His word. If we listen carefully He will be showing us extraordinary signs every day, and instructing us the what, the where and the when. Do you need another heart? Take time to seek and to follow His instructions and inquire in God’s word. He may show you extraordinary signs. But if you listen carefully to his word, you will see that the most extraordinary sign of all is that he will give you another heart.
So I tell him, “Lord, give me today another heart”.

Otro corazón

Samuel acababa de ungir a Saul, y le dio instrucciones específicas de lo que luego sucedería luego. Considera esto; Los burros que le pertenecían al padre de Saúl estaban perdidos, y Dios se encargó de eso. Se le dieron los detalles específicos de quién diría qué, cuándo y dónde. Entonces se dirigiría a otro lugar para buscar a tres hombres, que llevaban carneros, y a otros tres hombres que llevaban pan, los cuales él debía recibir. Iría luego a una colina donde encontraría a un grupo de profetas con instrumentos musicales que se estarían profetizando. En ese momento específico el Espíritu del Señor lo sobrecogería y él también haría lo mismo. Y, entonces él se convertiría en otro hombre.
Verás, Saúl salió a buscar los burros de su padre, pero Dios vino a ungirlo como rey de Israel. Él iba a ser el primer rey de Israel, así es que Samuel le dio todas estas instrucciones, que realmente eran, señales extraordinarias de lo que vendría. Para poder seguir fielmente todas estas instrucciones, Saúl necesitaba definitivamente otro corazón, y Dios lo sabía.
Es tan maravilloso cómo cambian nuestras vidas cuando oímos Su voz, cuando escuchamos su instrucción a través de su Palabra. Si escuchamos cuidadosamente Él nos mostrará señales extraordinarias cada día, y nos instruirá en el qué, dónde y cuándo. ¿Necesitas tú otro corazón? Toma tiempo para buscar y para seguir sus instrucciones y para inquirir en la palabra de Dios. Él puede demostrarte señales extraordinarias. Pero si escuchas cuidadosamente su palabra, verás que la señal más extraordinaria es que Él te dará otro corazón.
Así es que dile, “Señor dame hoy otro corazón”
