The story reveals a significant fact of the family of Abram. It was not foreign to him to be moving from place to place. Here we see that after the death of one of his sons, Terah, decided to move to a better place, Canaan. But along the way there he stopped at Harran and settled and died there. He never saw Canaan. History says that Haran was a place of trade, a midpoint to Canaan, and had an apparent prosperous life but it’s name means very dry, grievous and wasted years.
It is also important to say that Terah means delay, wandering. So while he was headed to Canaan he wandered and settled in Harran. Delay is the companion of wandering. Delay is the companion of wasted years. Delay always wanders to dry places.
You might also be in a similar situation. You headed out to the right place but wandered and settled in another. You headed to become a professional but settled for a smaller calling. You were headed to another city but stayed at the place of comfort. You were headed to a wonderful life in marriage, but settled for less. All to be seen years after, as wasted and wandered years. An apparent prosperous place, but in reality a dry and grievous one.
Don’t let delay dictate your steps. Don’t let apparent comfort, stir you away from your calling. Delay will carry your promise to a place of dryness and years of toil. Delay will blur your vision of the great destiny your life has. The story repeats itself, every one that settled at Harran, toiled and suffered years of delay, wandering in an apparent place of prosperity but in reality they were in a very dry place. Terah took the promise to a dry place. Abram and Sarai were the promise for the world and it could not flourish in a dry place.
Walk to your calling, don’t stop in Harran. Don’t settle in comfort, idleness and in unproductive places. Your promise is big and Canaan is waiting for you. If the vision for your life is clear why wander in places that will delay the promise of God for you? Your promise will come forth, and your life and world will be better for it.
Don’t take your promise to a dry place.

La historia revela un hecho significativo de la familia de Abram. Para él no era extraño el moverse de un lugar a otro. Aquí vemos que después de la muerte de uno de sus hijos, Téraj decidió mudarse a un lugar mejor, Canaán. Pero a lo largo del camino se detuvo en Jarán, y allí se estableció y murió. Él nunca vio la tierra de Canaán. La historia dice que Jarán era un lugar de comercio, un punto medio a Canaán, y tenía una vida de prosperidad aparente, pero su nombre significa muy seco, los años graves y perdidos.
También es importante decir que Téraj significa retraso, divagación. Así, que mientras se dirigía a Canaán, divagó y se estableció en Jarán. Retraso es el compañero de la divagación. El retraso es el compañero de los años perdidos. El retraso siempre divaga a los lugares secos.
Tú también podrías estar en una situación similar. Te dirigías hacia el lugar correcto, pero vagaste y te instalaste en otro. Te dirigías a convertirte en un profesional, pero te conformaste con una vocación más pequeña. Te dirigías a otra ciudad pero te quedaste en el lugar de la comodidad. Te dirigías a una vida maravillosa en el matrimonio, pero te conformaste con menos. Todo esto se verá años después, como años que se desperdiciaron y se vagaron en ellos.
No dejes que la demora dicte tus pasos. No dejes que la comodidad aparente te mueva lejos de su llamado. La demora llevará tu promesa a un lugar de sequedad y años de trabajo. La demora nubla tu visión del gran destino de tu vida. La historia se repite, todo el que se estableció en Jarán, trabajó y sufrió años de retraso, divagando en un lugar de aparente prosperidad, pero en realidad estaban en un lugar muy seco. Téraj llevó la promesa a un lugar seco. Abram y Sarai eran la promesa para el mundo, y ésta no podía florecer en un lugar seco.
Camina hacia tu llamado, no te detengas en Jarán. No te establezcas en la comodidad, en el ocio y en lugares improductivos. Su promesa es grande y Canaán te está esperando. Si la visión de tu vida está clara, por qué vagar por lugares que retrasarán la promesa de Dios para ti? Tu promesa se manifestará, y tu vida y el mundo serán mejor por ello. Dios te mirará desde el cielo y sonreirá.
No lleves tu promesa a un lugar seco.

Nunca subestimes el poder de la intimidad porque de la intimidad, viene nueva fecundidad. Desde la intimidad viene a favor y el favor es más poderoso que el dinero, el favor triunfa sobre las finanzas. Buscar la intimidad con Dios, y el favor te seguirá.
