Great Values

Recently I heard a very inspiring ten minute podcast from Zig Ziglar, the renowned speaker dubbed “America’s Motivator”. I personally regard his teachings and insights highly and recommend them for any stage you might be in life. The tittle of the podcast is “Use your resources”. In it Zig stresses the importance of using the resources available to us. He uses the example of many men that made many great strides and even revolutionized a foreign country. That country is Japan. Japan has no natural resources, no oil, no gas, no coal. Two-thirds of the land cannot be used for anything an it is half the size of the state of Texas. They also have half of the people in the US, and yet they are the number one creditor nation in the entire world. They are that way because they have developed the most important resource of the all; The Human Resources.
Each one of us are the only ones that can use our abilities. I am not going to transcribe word for word from the podcast, but what really caught my attention was a list of fifteen values that are common and that make civilizations and world religions, great. The list was made by the Thomas Jefferson Center in Pasadena California after a number of years of research. Those values are: Wisdom, Integrity, Love, Freedom, Justice, Courage, Humility, Patience, Industriousness, Thriftiness, Generosity, Objectivity, Cooperation, Moderation and Optimism.
What if we pursue and live those values that have made others great? What if we decide to be the change and not ask for change? What if we take a good look at ourselves and embrace these values in our lives? I will promise you something: It won’t be easy, but it will be great! We were created for greatness, and yet we don’t live that way. But it can be done and you can do it. Living these values will not only help you, but all of those around you, and before you know it a ripple effect will be felt.
And it won’t be long when you will agree with James when he said that every perfect gift comes from above, and your life will be better because you will be living, great values.

Grandes Valores
Recientemente escuché un podcast muy inspirador de diez minutos de Zig Ziglar, el orador famoso denominado “El Motivador de América”. Personalmente, considero en alta estima sus enseñanzas y puntos de vista y los recomiendo para cualquier etapa puedas estar en la vida. El título del podcast es “Usa tus recursos“. En ella Zig subraya la importancia de utilizar los recursos a disposición nuestra. Utiliza los ejemplos de muchos hombres que hicieron grandes avances e incluso revolucionaron un país extranjero. Ese país es Japón. Japón no tiene recursos naturales, no tiene petróleo, ni gas, ni carbón. Dos terceras partes de su tierra no se puede utilizar para nada y es la mitad del tamaño del estado de Texas. También tienen la mitad de las personas en los EE.UU, y sin embargo, son la principal nación acreedora del mundo entero. Ellos son así porque han desarrollado el recurso más importante de todos; el Recurso Humano.
Cada uno de nosotros somos los únicos que podemos usar nuestras habilidades. No voy a transcribir palabra por palabra del podcast, pero lo que realmente me llamó la atención fue una lista de quince valores que son comunes y que hacen grandes a las civilizaciones y religiones del mundo. La lista fue hecha por el Centro Thomas Jefferson en Pasadena, California, después de varios años de investigación. Estos valores son: Sabiduría, Integridad, Amor, Libertad, Justicia, Valor, Humildad, Paciencia, Laboriosidad, Ahorro, Generosidad, Objetividad, Cooperación, Moderación Y El Optimismo.
¿Qué si seguimos y vivimos los valores que han hecho a otros grandes? ¿Y si nos decidimos a ser el cambio y no pedir por cambio? ¿Qué si nos miramos a nosotros mismos y aceptamos estos valores en nuestras vidas? Una cosa te prometo: ¡No será fácil, pero será grandioso! Fuimos creados para grandeza, y sin embargo, no vivimos de esa manera. Pero puede hacerse y tu lo puedes hacer. Vivir estos valores no sólo te ayuda a ti, sino a todos los que te rodean, y antes de que te des cuenta un efecto dominó se hará sentir.
Y no pasará mucho tiempo cuando estés de acuerdo con Santiago cuando dice que todo don perfecto desciende de lo alto, y tu vida será mejor porque estarás viviendo, grandes valores.

Inside out
What a great introduction! The credentials of Job preceded him. Blameless – a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil, a combination of devotion and practical living. Can we be called blameless and of complete integrity? The thought of it makes me wonder. You see, I know myself. I know what I think and I know with what I struggle. When I approach this subject, I do it with caution. I want to be called by God and by men, blameless.
But how do I achieve it? The story tells us that Job feared God. He had a devotion that was known to The Creator. The hidden life developed day after day when nobody was watching, the inside life. In Samuel 16:7, when Samuel was looking to anoint a new king, God told him “…People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart,” so don’t look at the outward appearance. It clear stated, that for God, was is not seen is more important than what is.
But, what is seen is also important. If you read carefully in the verse from 1 Samuel, it clearly states that, ”…People judge by outward appearance…” That means that everyone around you will judge by what they see, it’s just human nature. Think of it as a shirt. In order to know who made it, what is made of and what size it is, you have to look at the label inside. If it fits, it will look nice and represent you well on the outside. What will people see in the interior label of our life? Is your life reflecting what you claim is your label? The interesting part of this is that when we take care of our devotional life, our inside life, and we guard our heart, the outside will take care of itself.
We all want to be blameless and it is not too late for that. God is the God of new beginnings. He has made everything new for us when Jesus died in the cross for our sins, changing us from the inside out. It is a process that we cannot do alone. No matter how much we try, in order to be called blameless by God, we need to seek Him and surrender our lives to Him.
Only then will the world around you will see the transformation that begun, from the inside out.

De adentro hacia afuera
Qué gran introducción! Las credenciales de Job le precedieron. Irreprensible – un hombre de integridad. Temía a Dios y se alejó del mal, una combinación de devoción y de vida práctica. Podemos ser llamados irreprensibles y totalmente íntegros? La idea me hace pensar. Ya ves, me conozco. Yo sé lo que pienso y sé que con lo que lucho. Cuando me acerco a este tema, lo hago con precaución. Quiero ser llamado por Dios y por los hombres, irreprensible.
Pero cómo puedo lograrlo? La historia nos dice que Job temía a Dios. Tenía una devoción que era conocida por el Creador. La vida oculta desarrollada día a día cuando no lo miraba nadie, la vida interior. En 1 Samuel 16:7, cuando Samuel estaba buscando para ungir a un nuevo rey, Dios le dijo “…La gente juzga por las apariencias, pero el SEÑOR mira el corazón.”, así que no mires la apariencia externa. Claramente para Dios, lo que no se ve es más importante que lo que se ve.
Pero, lo que se ve también es importante. Si lees con cuidado en el verso de 1 Samuel, dice claramente que ““…La gente juzga por las apariencias,..” Eso significa que todo el mundo a tu alrededor juzgará por lo que ven, es sólo la naturaleza humana. Piensa en ello como una camisa. Con el fin de saber quién la hizo, de que está hecho y qué tamaño es, tienes que mirar en el interior de la etiqueta. Si te sirve, se verá bien y te representará mejor en el exterior. ¿Qué verá la gente en la etiqueta del interior de nuestras vidas? Esta tu vida reflejando lo que reclamamos es nuestro sello? Lo interesante de esto es que cuando nos ocupamos de nuestra vida devocional, nuestra vida interior, y nosotros guardamos nuestro corazón, la parte exterior se ocupará de sí misma.
Todos queremos ser intachables y no es demasiado tarde para eso. Dios es el Dios de nuevos comienzos. Él hizo todo nuevo para nosotros cuando Jesús murió en la cruz por nuestros pecados, cambiándonos de adentro hacia fuera. Es un proceso que no podemos hacerlo solos. No importa cuánto lo intentemos, a fin de ser llamados por Dios irreprensibles, es necesario que le busquemos y entreguemos nuestras vidas a él.
Sólo entonces el mundo a tu alrededor verá la transformación que has tenido. Una vida fructífera e irreprensible se vive de, adentro hacia fuera.

In your generation
The writer of the book of Acts, makes the distinction so it is evidently clear to whom the psalm is referencing to. He is not talking about David, but about Jesus. And by differentiating them, it made it clear that each had a specific purpose in life.
David did the will of God in his own generation. In other words he succeeded in doing that for which he was created. I could say, and this is my personal perspective, that David fulfilled the dream of God for his life. This would suggest that like a puzzle, we all have a unique part in the world. Why am I here? Will I succeed in fulfilling my purpose?, Will I be happy? Is it too late for me? These are all questions we have made to ourselves from time to time. And the reality is that God gives us this short period on earth to affect our generation. Moreover, to affect our eternity and make a dent in the universe.
What are you doing with what you’ve been given? Where have you directed your eyes? Where have you turned your steps? These should be questions you should ask yourself if you want to make a change in your life and in your generation. It is possible, you can understand the purpose for which you have been given the gifts and abilities that you have and use them extraordinarily.
So what’s holding you? Performing God’s will in your life doesn’t always mean having a public performance or a visible platform. Performing His will, is understanding who we are and who we are not. Being content with who we are but not where we are. This is were we get lost sometimes, thinking that having more “things” is what defines us. We forget that what defines us, is who is HE in us. That is a powerful thought in itself. When we lean on God’s counsel, everything changes and we change as well.
You might be the one your lineage has been waiting for, that decides to be the tipping point for generations to come. You have not settled for normal, you decided to excel in your part of the story, because the future depends on it. Whether it’s raising your family, caring for the needy, fighting for those without a voice, being a mentor, or building a company and many more, the titles are all different, but God sees it all the same; fulfilling His dream for your life.
Don’t hesitate, it can be done and you can do it, all in your generation.

En tu generación
El escritor del libro de los Hechos, hace la distinción así que es evidentemente claro a quien el salmo está haciendo referencia. Él no está hablando de David, sino de Jesús. Y mediante la diferenciación de ellos, dejó claro que cada uno tenía un propósito específico en la vida.
David hizo la voluntad de Dios en su propia generación. En otras palabras, él tuvo éxito en aquello para lo cual fue creado. Yo podría decir, y esta es mi perspectiva personal, que David cumplió el sueño de Dios para su vida. Esto podría sugerir que como un rompecabezas, todos tenemos una parte singular en el mundo. ¿Por qué estoy aquí? ¿Voy a tener éxito en el cumplimiento de mi propósito?, ¿Voy a ser feliz? Es ya demasiado tarde para mí? Todas estas son preguntas que nos hemos hecho a nosotros mismos de tiempo en tiempo. Y la realidad es que Dios nos da este corto período de tiempo sobre la tierra para afectar a nuestra generación. Por otra parte, para afectar nuestra eternidad y hacer una indentación en el universo.
¿Qué estás haciendo con lo se te ha dado? Dónde has dirigido tus ojos? Dónde has vuelto tus pasos? Estas deben ser preguntas que debes hacerte si quieres hacer un cambio en tu vida y en tu generación. Es posible, puedes entender el propósito para lo que se te han dado las habilidades y dones que tienes, y usarloros de manera extraordinaria.
Entonces, ¿qué te detiene? Hacer la voluntad de Dios para tu vida no siempre significa tener una interpretación pública una plataforma visible. Realizar su voluntad, es la comprensión de quiénes somos y lo que no somos Contentarse con lo que somos, pero no donde estamos. Aquí es donde nos extraviamos a veces, pensando que obteniendo más “cosas” es lo que nos define Nos olvidamos de que lo que nos define, es que El está en nosotros Ese es un pensamiento poderoso en sí mismo. Cuando nos apoyamos en el consejo de Dios, todo cambia y nosotros cambiamos también.
Tu puedes ser el que tu linaje ha estado esperando que decida ser el punto de inflexión para las generaciones venideras. No te has conformado con lo normal, has decidido sobresalir en tu parte de la historia, porque el futuro depende de ello. Ya sea levantar la familia, cuidar de los necesitados, luchar por quienes no tienen voz, ser un mentor, o construir una empresa y mucho más, los títulos son todos diferentes, pero Dios lo ve todo el igual; el cumplir Su sueño para tu vida.
No vaciles, puede hacerse y tu puedes hacerlo, en tu generación
